Want something to do while waiting for games like Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy XIII. Try inFAMOUS!

inFAMOUS tells the story of an Empire City bike messenger, Cole. He is send to deliver a package by an unknown customer. When he arrives, he gets told to open it, revealing a sphere-like device. It activates, causing a massive explosion that wipes out 6 city blocks, Cole being the only survivor. Empire City is put under quarantine, and without outside help, chaos quickly descends on the city. Cole, in the hospital under the care of his girlfriend Trish, recovers in about two weeks and discovers he has been infused with electricity-based powers. As he regroups with his best friend, Zeke, he discovers that a rogue television DJ, “The Voice of Survival”, has identified him as the cause of the explosion, turning the city populace against him.

infamousAccording to Infamous producer Nate Fox, the development team at Sucker Punch Productions wanted to have Cole as a “kind of an everyman” so that players could then “get into the headspace of what it would be like to be a real human being who has been granted these exceptional abilities”. While Cole is the main playable character, he is joined by two friends; Zeke, a fellow bike messenger, conspiracy theorist and survivalist, and Trish, Cole’s ex-girlfriend and medical student who resents him due to her sister being killed in the blast but still helps in treating the injured, a “Lois Lane with syringes” as described by Sucker Punch.

Infamous is a sandbox video game. The player controls Cole and his newly acquired electrical powers as he makes his way around Empire City. Ultimately, the player will need to defeat three major forces that have each taken over one section of Empire City.

I had a lot of fun running trough the city, scalling buildings and riding the train tracks, while beating up everything in sight. The game kinda reminded me of “Crackdown”, but even more fun.
You can spend hours collecting stuff and doing side missions, but even if you just follow the story, its wont be another 6-8 hour game.
So far I’ve played for about 15 hours and I think Im about halfway trough the game now, so I’d say its a 20-25 hour game.
And its fun all the way, so that doesnt sound like a bad deal.
