The first true sequel to the classic 1988 Nintendo Entertainment System original, Bionic Commando sees the return of the bionically-enhanced Nathan “Rad” Spencer, voiced by Mike Patton, the former lead singer of Faith No More. Time has not been kind to Spencer: 10 years after his heroic defeat of the Imperials in the original game, he has been betrayed by the government he swore to serve, imprisoned for crimes he didn’t commit, and sentenced to death.

On the very day of Spencer’s execution, terrorists detonate a massive experimental weapon in Ascension City, unleashing an intense earthquake that has turned the city into rubble and wiped out its population. With the terrain in ruins and the city’s air defense grid now in the control of a massive terrorist force whose goal remains unclear, the FSA have only one option left – a behind-the-lines assault. The perfect job for a Bionic Commando.

Bionic Commando transposes the swing-and-shoot gameplay of the 8-bit original to a stunning 3D environment of towering buildings, suspended roadways and monorails, deep canyons and sheer rock faces, where every environment is scalable using swinging, scaling, climbing and wall-walking techniques.

The game looks pretty good, both the city and the characters are very well made. But I did have a couple of problems with the game.
My biggest issue was the size of the city zones. While I was expecting an open world game, like GTA or CrackDown, the game follows a linear path. There’s “invisible walls” made out of trees or radiation and you need to enter a tunnel at the end of every zone. Halfway trough the tunnel you’ll get a 2 minute loading screen. The zones between the tunnels take about 5-10 minutes to get trough, so it kinda felt like you were seeing more loading screen than actual gameplay.
The combat system wasn’t that good either, controls were frustrating most of the time, resulting in multiple deaths.

Overall, I didn’t really enjoy the game, stop playing after a couple of hours. If you really liked the original “Bionic Commando”, try “Bionic Commado: Rearmed” instead.

According to Infamous producer Nate Fox, the development team at Sucker Punch Productions wanted to have Cole as a “kind of an everyman” so that players could then “get into the headspace of what it would be like to be a real human being who has been granted these exceptional abilities”. While Cole is the main playable character, he is joined by two friends; Zeke, a fellow bike messenger, conspiracy theorist and survivalist, and Trish, Cole’s ex-girlfriend and medical student who resents him due to her sister being killed in the blast but still helps in treating the injured, a “Lois Lane with syringes” as described by Sucker Punch.

Infamous is a sandbox video game. The player controls Cole and his newly acquired electrical powers as he makes his way around Empire City. Ultimately, the player will need to defeat three major forces that have each taken over one section of Empire City.

I had a lot of fun running trough the city, scalling buildings and riding the train tracks, while beating up everything in sight. The game kinda reminded me of “Crackdown”, but even more fun.
You can spend hours collecting stuff and doing side missions, but even if you just follow the story, its wont be another 6-8 hour game.
So far I’ve played for about 15 hours and I think Im about halfway trough the game now, so I’d say its a 20-25 hour game.
And its fun all the way, so that doesnt sound like a bad deal.

The king of womanizing lounge lizards is back and spending his summer working on a Hollywood movie lot.

The original Larry is now a movie mogul, but he’s got a problem…the studio across the road always seem to know what he’s making: there must be a mole in the studio!

The Larry games were once among my favorites, but now its just an empty shell of its former self.
What began as funny games, with adult humor, and some good adventuring turned into what is considered “Next Gen”. The game-play turned from a point’n'click adventure to some really bad platforming, while you get annoyed by the famous “console” mini games.
While the previous Larry, Magna Cum Laude, wasn’t a game to write home about and already had the new platforming elements, it still felt like a Larry game. This however does not.
Does this really mean the end of the now “legendary” Larry, was “Love For Sail” the last real game?
While I hope that’s not the case, I’m afraid this is just another gaming series that has been ruined by the “We need something new, change the whole essence of the game so that we can call it Next-Gen” attitude of the current gaming industrie.
